Dear Heavenly Father,
I ask for Your divine protection for me, my brothers
and sisters, and for all You have entrusted in
my/our care. Send Your army of angels and
chariots of fire with us into battle. Protect me/us in
battle, in Jesus’ name. You hold the heavens and
the earth in Your hands, and even if the earth were
removed and the mountains be cast into the sea,
I will not fear for You are with me. There is
nothing too hard for You. If I dwell in the secret
place of the Most High, I abide under the shadow
of the Almighty. Under Your shadow I take refuge.
Hide me in Your secret place. Hide us under the
shadow of Your wings. I commit myself/us to into
Your care, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

- God Signals David: More Guidance
Now when the Philistines heard that they
had anointed David king over Israel, all
the Philistines went up to search for
David. And David heard of it and went
down to the stronghold. The Philistines
also went and deployed themselves in the
Valley of Rephaim. So David inquired of
the Lord, saying, “Shall I go up against
the Philistines? Will You deliver them
into my hand?” And the Lord said to
David, “Go up, for I will doubtless deliver
the Philistines into your hand.” So David
went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated
them there; and he said, “The Lord has
broken through my enemies before me,
like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore
he called the name of that place Baal
Perazim. And they left their images there,
and David and his men carried them
away. Then the Philistines went up once
again and deployed themselves in the
Valley of Rephaim. Therefore David
inquired of the Lord, and He said, “You
shall not go up; circle around behind
them, and come upon them in front of
the mulberry trees.
And it shall be, when you hear the sound
of marching in the tops of the mulberry
trees, then you shall advance quickly. For
then the Lord will go out before you to
strike the camp of the Philistines.” And
David did so, as the Lord commanded
him; and he drove back the Philistines
from Geba as far as Gezer.
(2 Samuel 5:17-25)The Deep Sleep of the Lord
- Then David answered, and said to
Ahimelech the Hittite and to Abishai the
son of Zeruiah, brother of Joab, saying,
“Who will go down with me to Saul in
the camp?” And Abishai said, “I will go
down with you.” So David and Abishai
came to the people by night; and there
Saul lay sleeping within the camp, with
his spear stuck in the ground by his head.
And Abner and the people lay all around
him. Then Abishai said to David, “God
has delivered your enemy into your hand
this day. Now therefore, please, let me
strike him at once with the spear, right to
the earth; and I will not have to strike
him a second time!” And David said to
Abishai, “Do not destroy him; for who
can stretch out his hand against the
Lord’s anointed, and be guiltless?” David
said furthermore, “As the Lord lives, the
Lord shall strike him, or his day shall
come to die, or he shall go out to battle
and perish. The Lord forbid that I should
stretch out my hand against the Lord’s
anointed. But please, take now the spear
and the jug of water that are by his head,
and let us go.” So David took the spear
and the jug of water by Saul’s head, and
they got away; and no man saw it or
knew it or awoke. For they were all
asleep, because a deep sleep from the
Lord had fallen on them. (1 Samuel 26:6-12)God Causes the Enemy to Fear
- Now there were four leprous men at the
entrance of the gate; and they said to one
another, “Why are we sitting here until
we die? If we say, ‘We will enter the city,’
the famine is in the city, and we shall die
there. And if we sit here, we die also.
Now therefore, come, let us surrender to
the army of the Syrians. If they keep us
alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we
shall only die.” And they rose at twilight
to go to the camp of the Syrians; and
when they had come to the outskirts of
the Syrian camp, to their surprise no one
was there. For the Lord had caused the
army of the Syrians to hear the noise of
chariots and the noise of horses—the
noise of a great army; so they said to one
another, “Look, the king of Israel has
hired against us the kings of the Hittites
and the kings of the Egyptians to attack
us!” Therefore they arose and fled at twilight,
and left the camp intact—their
tents, their horses, and their donkeys—
and they fled for their lives. And when
these lepers came to the outskirts of the
camp, they went into one tent and ate
and drank, and carried from it silver and
gold and clothing, and went and hid
them; then they came back and entered
another tent, and carried some from
there also, and went and hid it. Then
they said to one another, “We are not
doing right. This day is a day of good
news, and we remain silent. If we wait
until morning light, some punishment
will come upon us. Now therefore, come,
let us go and tell the king’s household.”
So they went and called to the gatekeepers
of the city, and told them, saying,
“We went to the Syrian camp, and
surprisingly no one was there, not a
human sound—only horses and donkeys
tied, and the tents intact.” And the gatekeepers
called out, and they told it to the
king’s household inside. (2 Kings 7:3-11) - I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;
For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in
safety. ( Psalm 4:8) - He who dwells in the secret place of the
Most High Shall abide under the shadow
of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord,
“He is my refuge and my fortress; My
God, in Him I will trust.” He shall cover
you with His feathers, and under His
wings you shall take refuge; His truth
shall be your shield and buckler. No evil
shall befall you, nor shall any plague
come near your dwelling; (Psalm 91:1, 2, 4, 10) - But whoever listens to me will dwell
safely, and will be secure, without fear of
evil. (Proverbs 1:33)
